UFC Mexico City Post-Fight Breakdown: Bonuses, Upsets, and Heartbreak 4 the Home Crowd.

Brandon Moreno Vs Lone'er Kavanagh UFC Mexico.

The energy inside the arena for UFC Mexico City was electric, but by the end of the night, the atmosphere turned bittersweet. While we witnessed elite-level wars and clinical finishes, the Mexican faithful left the building feeling the sting of disappointment as their biggest stars failed to deliver.

At Score Games MMA, we’re breaking down the official bonuses and the performances that defined the night.

Brandon Moreno Vs Lone'er Kavanagh|UFC Mexico

Performance of the Night: Lone’er Kavanagh Shocks the World.

The biggest talking point of the evening remains the main event. Entering the cage as a former champion and a national hero, Brandon Moreno was expected to have a triumphant homecoming. However, Lone’er Kavanagh had other plans.

Kavanagh didn’t just win; he put on a clinic. From the opening bell, he shut down Moreno’s offense, showcasing superior timing and a relentless pace. Moreno looked a step behind all night, unable to find his rhythm against the younger, hungrier Kavanagh. By the final round, it was clear that Kavanagh had fully dominated the “Assassin Baby,” silencing the Mexican fans. For his cold, calculated, and high-stakes performance, Lone’er Kavanagh rightfully earned a Performance of the Night bonus.

Performance of the Night: Imanol Rodriguez’s Clinical Finish.

If Kavanagh provided the technical masterclass, Imanol Rodriguez provided the fireworks. Facing off against Kevin Borjas, Rodriguez showed why he is a rising threat in the division.

After a competitive first round, Rodriguez turned up the heat in the second. He found his range and began landing heavy artillery, eventually dropping Borjas and forcing the referee to wave it off via TKO. It was a massive statement win that not only moved him up the rankings but also secured him a well-deserved Performance of the Night check.

Fight of the Night: Regina Tarin vs. Ernesta Kareckaite.

While the men’s headliners drew the most attention, the ladies stole the show in terms of pure grit. Regina Tarin and Ernesta Kareckaite went to absolute war for three straight rounds, leaving everything inside the Octagon.

The back-and-forth exchanges and the sheer volume of strikes made this an easy choice for the Fight of the Night. Both athletes displayed incredible cardio and chin, refusing to back down even when the momentum shifted. This was MMA at its finest—technical, bloody, and incredibly entertaining.

The Score Games MMA Take: A Night of Mixed Emotions

From my perspective as an analyst, today’s card was fascinating but deeply disappointing for the local fanbase. Brandon Moreno and Daniel Zellhuber were the anchors of this event for Mexico, and both coming up short felt like a gut punch to the crowd.

Zellhuber, much like Moreno, struggled to impose his will and ultimately disappointed those who expected a dominant win. While the fights were objectively “good,” seeing the home-town heroes fall in such a definitive fashion left a cloud of sadness over Mexico City.

Who do you think Moreno should fight next to get back into the win column? Let us know in the comments!
